Delete your UMarkless account

App: UMarkless: AI Marking (com.markless.app)

You can delete your UMarkless account, and everything in it, from inside the app or by asking us. This page explains both routes, exactly what is erased, what is kept and why, and how long it takes.

Delete it yourself, in the app

1. Open UMarkless and sign in to the account you want deleted.
2. Go to Settings.
3. Tap Delete my account.
4. Read the consequences and tap Continue.
5. Type DELETE to confirm, then tap Delete for good.

The app asks twice on purpose: once for the consequences, once with the word typed out. The request is verified against your own signed-in session, so nobody else can delete your account.

Ask us to delete it, without the app

Email oscar.cs.lee@gmail.com from the email address the account uses, and ask for the account to be deleted. Send it from that address so we can tell it is you; we do not ask for your password, and we will never ask you for one.

What is deleted

Everything below is erased, on the phone and on our servers:

• Your profile — your email, name, honorific, school and curriculum region.
• Every marked result — scores, feedback, question breakdowns and annotations.
• Every class and every student you entered, including your own student codes and any notes.
• Your answer keys, including keys the app learned from a first paper.
• Your saved settings and marking defaults.
• Your usage records — the credit and cost log kept to enforce your plan's allowance.
• Your sign-in itself. The login is deleted last, so a failure earlier never leaves data behind an account you can no longer sign in to.

Page images were never stored on our servers in the first place — they are passed through for marking and discarded, and the copies kept on your phone go when the app's data is cleared.

What is kept, and why

One thing survives: the anonymous marking cache. When a page is marked, a one-way hash of the image is stored alongside the model's output, so that re-marking an identical page can be served from cache instead of being paid for and processed again. A hash cannot be turned back into the picture.

Those rows are keyed by the content hash and are shared across accounts. They carry no name, no email and no account id, so there is nothing in them that identifies you or a student, and nothing that could be linked back to a deleted account.

TODO: the retention period for the anonymous marking cache is not yet stated in our published documentation and must be filled in here before launch.

How long it takes

In the app: immediately. By the time the app tells you the account has been deleted, the records have already been removed on the server and the login has been deleted.

By email: TODO — a turnaround for emailed deletion requests has not been committed to in writing yet, and is to be stated here before launch rather than guessed at.

Two things deletion does not do

It does not cancel your subscription

Subscriptions are held by the store, not by us. Cancel in the Play Store or the App Store — deleting your UMarkless account does not stop a subscription renewing.

It does not touch files already exported to your Google Drive

If you switched on Drive export, the documents UMarkless created live in the UMarkless folder in your own Drive and belong to you. UMarkless does not delete them; delete them in Drive if you want them gone.
